The Place de la Constitution offers a superb view of the Petrusse Valley and the Adolphe Bridge. In the centre of the square is a tall monument commemorating the Luxembourgers who died during the First World War. The monument of a gold plated female figure is known as `Gelle Fra` (Golden Lady). Originally erected in 1923, it was pulled down by the Nazis in October 1940. Today, the monument symbolises freedom and resistance for the nation. It was fully restored to its original appearence in 1984.
